TelegraphWEB

I have some exciting news to share. For the last two months, I’ve been working day and night to create the Miami Travel guide for London’s Telegraph newspaper. It’s an interactive guide with over 120 things to do, see, eat, drink, shop, beach and stay, plus there’s a couple of itineraries and background info to get the most out of your time here. Basically, it’s where I’m sending anyone looking for advice on where to go in Miami from now on. […]

Here’s a fun little video I made with Vogue Eyewear on what I love most about living in Miami. Of course, it’s the beachy lifestyle. “South Beach is famous for the beach, so you’ve got to take advantage of it,” I explain. “I love anything from going for a swim in the ocean. If there’s waves to try to go surfing. Sailing. You can go for a run on the beach. Do yoga.” After this video, I can now add slo-mo […]

Vitamin K Mini Salad

I would be remiss to go on much longer without mentioning Go Go since it’s where I eat lunch almost every day in South Beach. When it comes to lunch, I look for two things, healthy and affordable. There’s no telling what kind of damage I’ll do to my credit card or calorie count come dinnertime, so at lunch, I try to curb my enthusiasm. Go Go is the perfect place to do this as they serve up a variety of […]

Afrojack and Shermanology performing "Can't Stop Me Now" at Mansion

There’s a reason South Beach is renowned for its nightlife. It’s because we party harder and later than any other city I can think of. And because we have nightclubs like Mansion. A mainstay on the Miami club scene for almost a decade, with a massive renovation in 2012, including a multimillion dollar sound system and lighting upgrade, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Imagine Champagne showers, confetti showers, a crazy light show, aerialists, robot men, and a packed dance […]

Books & Books Miami

I love perusing the shelves of a nice independent bookstore. In a world where they’re becoming increasingly harder to find, we’re lucky to have Books & Books in Miami. With its original location founded in Coral Gables in 1982, there are also outposts in South Beach on Lincoln Road, inside Bal Harbour Shops, and at Miami International Airport, as well as locations in Fort Lauderdale, Grand Cayman, and Westhampton Beach. It’s so much more than a bookstore. It’s an intellectual gathering […]

Broken Shaker

What started as a pop-up sensation last spring is now a permanent fixture in Miami’s cocktail landscape. The Broken Shaker is back and it’s here to stay. Along with it came the renovation of the historic Indian Creek Hotel and the launch of the Freehand–making hostels chic again. Walk through the hotel lobby–complete with a summer camp-style activity board–and into the lush veranda outside outfitted with eclectic patio furniture and old school board games. The chill, idyllic setting is certainly […]

The Mondrian South Beach

As if the Mondrian’s stunning poolside views of Biscayne Bay and Marcel Wanders’ design whimsies inspired by Sleeping Beauty’s castle were not enough, it’s the rooms that will make you never want to leave this hotel. They’re part Art Deco chic–the kitchen walls are tiled in blue and white depicting beach scenes and there’s a white plaster fruit centerpiece on the orange glass top kitchen table. They’re also part playful modern glam with a gold brocade love seat, slate grey floors, […]

Biscayne Bay by Purdy Ave

When it comes to getting your zen on in South Beach, look no further than Green Monkey on Purdy Avenue. The clean, bright studio is a favorite amongst the beach’s beautiful yogis practicing sun salutations, warrior sequences, and handstands. The atmosphere is friendly and communal with a powerhouse roster of teachers who are creative, thoughtful, and rigorous, each offering unique insights into the practice. Paul Toliuszis’ power yoga classes are perennially packed with devoted acolytes prepared for a fast-paced, sweat-soaked […]

Fontainebleau Miami Beach

A landmark of Miami Modern architecture on Collins Avenue, the Fontainebleau Resort Miami Beach is a glamourous playground of excess. From the lobby’s iconic Morris Lapidus-designed bow tie tile floors, to the glamorous “stairway to nowhere,” and the golden Ai Weiwei chandeliers seemingly dripping from the heavens, it’s a modern reference to the glitzy bygone era of Miami Beach in the 1950s and ’60s. Fast forward to 2012, and it’s home to LIV, the hottest club in town, which draws a […]
